You have probably all noticed I have taken a bit of break from blogging lately. I have had a few personal things that I have needed to sort out and my design teams have graciously allowed me a month off to do this. However I had already committed to the gorgeous Tiff to turn in a card for a little Torendi competition she is running and had this card ready so I thought I would go ahead and post it.

If you like it maybe you might vote for me. Just saying. ;-D

This card has a few layers..I started with a Kraft base, added some Cosmo Cricket paper, and stamped my birdcage. Next I cut out a window from a slightly smaller Kraft base, added my ribbon and mounted this up with dimensionals. On top of this is another layer with raised window made from acetate and a little frame. I cut the two tiny birds from the Earth Love Paper and put one on the green layer with the birdcage and the other up on the raised window. Its kind of hard to capture the 3d affect in a photo.

Stamping On Fabric Tutorial

Im not sure I can reeeally call this a tutorial but I wanted to share my recent discovery. I have seen a lot of people blogging about using modge podge and fabric and wondered if I could work with raw fabric. I'm happy to say YES you can! So no extra purchases needed. Get those fabric scraps out girls!

Step 1. Glue or sew the fabric to your card stock. TIP: If sewing, use a little snail to hold the fabric in place whilst you are sewing.

Step 2. Smooth out your fabric ensuring there are no bumps and stamp your design onto your fabric with basic black ink. There is no need to use fabric ink as this will not be going in the wash (we hope!!). TIP: I felt my sentiment was a little too light so I inked up my stamp and stamped again over the same place. This was easy to do as i was using clear acrylic stamps. Love those!

Next I stamped three little elephants and cut and mounted them on dimensionals to make him a little more 3D. I pleated some tiny ribbon and added the little sprinkles. I really love these. Sorry if I am getting boring and using them too much! ;-D

I used the CPS card sketch for my layout. Gotta love the fact that not only do the challenge sites help you make a fun card but you get the chance to win some blog candy at the same time!

Wild Flower Kids release day

This is my card for the Wild Flowers Kids release. Boy did I struggle with this. Autumn (or Fall for you girls in the USA) is not something we celebrate in Australia so I really had no idea what sentiment to put?? I tried adding so many things to this card but it really took away from the pretty leaves. So in the end I went with a cleaner and simpler look and just added some diamantes for interest.

First Snow

This is a sneak peak of the upcoming Fall and Winter release for Sassy Studio Designs being released on the 1st October. I used the 2 Sketches for You sketch # 36 for this card layout. For this girl image I first coloured her with copics, and then cut out and paper pieced the top leaving spaces where the scarf and cuffs would be.

I then coloured in the buttons with a black copic and then I used Kindy Glitz 3D Slick White to colour in the scarf, cuffs and ear muffs. Its quite a thick product so it is very easy to make it look fluffy. Sorry about the poor quality photos...still haven't found the OTT lamp I need. ;-D

Meet Morgan

This is the newest Morgan stamp available tomorrow from Stamp Happens - Morgans Love. I went for a clean and graphic look for this little cutie. I stamped cut and coloured her and practiced my black colouring. ;-) To make the book look a little more 3D I stamped an extra book, overstamped with some french script, coloured it and then stuck down only the seam of the book so the pages 'move'. Some cute library book type paper, some stitching and tiny black diamantes and done!

I made this card for my friend who asked me to make her a wedding card for a wedding she is attending. She chose the floral paper in the background and I had to try to work with this. Boy this was a hard one for me as I would never normally have picked this paper for a wedding. But I think it turned out ok? I'm going to try make another now so she has a few to choose from.

Shimmerz review for Stamp Happens

I was asked to review Shimmerz for Stamp Happens and I must admit I was very excited as I had wanted to use Shimmerz for a while but had trouble finding it in Australia.

I have to be honest, the first time I used Shimmerz I HATED it but Ive since found out that is because I really didn't know what I was doing and after working this out, I am now IN LOVE. :-D

Wrong Way: Do not try to paint white paper silver! I was sent Silver Blingz Shimmerz and thought I would paint several layers on white paper to make the paper sparkly silver but Ive since found out that Shimmerz is best used as one single thin layer over colour such as Copics or pencils. Adding more layers does not make it shiny or a deeper colour...it just makes it clumpy! :-D

Correct Way: The first tip is to shake, stir, and then stir again to make sure you remove all the clumps and lumps. If you are nearing the end of your Shimmerz and it is drying out and getting clumpy, you can even add a few drops of water and shake it again. If using line images colour your work with Copics or pencils and paint your Shimmerz on top in a thin even layer. Ive also heard some of the other design team girls say that they don't wash their brush when using Shimmerz but I found for me it worked best with my aqua painter slightly wet (but not full of water). This kept the Shimmerz nice and even and avoided any lumps or bumps.

In the picture above the top is done by colouring first with a grey copic and then adding a thin layer of shimmerz, whilst the skirt is done with layer upon layer of shimmerz...clumpy and bumpy! I did have trouble photographing the full sparkly affect of the shimmerz. Apparently I need an OTT light so I'm off to see if I can find one. I will post a better picture later. Moxie Fab World Challenge

I made this little card for the latest Moxie Fab World challenge. The idea was to make a card inspired by something in your house. I kind of took this literally and used an antique key I have been saving from when we replaced our back door. I haven't had time to look through the other entries so I am hoping like mad someone else hasn't had the same idea. I had to make this in 20 minutes as I had to make it before the deadline closed so not quite sure if I made it in time? PS the inside of the card says "to my heart".

Magic Faraway Tree

Ive been away for a few days havent I!. Ive been very busy organising at home all thanks to this post by the gorgeous Sarah. But more about that tomorrow. Does anyone remember the book "The Magic Faraway Tree" by Enid Blyton? I loved this book when I was little and had an idea to make a card based on this for the Embellish Magazine call. The book is a dreamy story about a tree that reaches into the clouds and a new land appears at the top of the tree each day. Oh to be a little child again. :-D

The tree is from the new range by Annabell Stamps and is called Swirl Tree. I think this could go to a boy? Or do the Diamontes make it a bit girly? I stamped the tree twice, once on the cloud paper and then a second time on the bark paper and cut this one out, and added some little diamontes to make the tree look a bit magical. Super easy! My Crafting Space

I don't exaaaaaactly have my own craft studio but I do have a new space! Whilst its not quite finished yet, my hubby has been working hard on our back room which means I can now craft while I watch the kids play outside. I'm a very happy girl.

Do you like my new french string chandelier. ;-D Ebay rocks! It might be a bit much for the room but Ive wanted a chandelier since I was six. What can I say!

Now what I reeeally wanted was a scrap box..have you seen it? It makes my heart aflutter! http://www.theoriginalscrapbox.com/ But what I do have is the cupboard you see on the left.

Hubby and I picked up together from an antique store at Phillip Island. It was an old 'Board of Works' Paint cupboard that someone had lovingly restored. It used to be our TV cabinet, and then it was used for kids clothes storage, and then then my son came up with the idea for me to turn it into my craft storage. Thanks AJ! So now instead of lugging my stuff out of suitcases and drawers up to the kitchen table, I can now unpack easily from the cupboard to the big table and back again. You might be surprised once you see how much this magic cupboard holds!

Here is my cupboard closed. On the top are boxes, one with coloured card scraps. I actually use the 12 x 12 cardboard that comes with packs of designer paper as dividers and I sort my card stock into rough colours i.e. reds/pinks, blues/turquoises, greens/aquas, blacks/chocolates etc. It makes it much easier to use scraps this way.

Here it is open. I could probably have tidied up for you but that would be cheating yes. ;-) It really is a very organised mess! The top shelf holds all my stamps, and some stuff for making acrylic jewellery (which I have never got around to doing!). The second shelf lots of things in labelled baskets (cuttlebug folders, copics, paints, markers, chalks etc). The next shelf holds my Designer Papers in some fantastic storage units by Kaisercraft, my SU ink caddy & accessory caddies, cuttlebug, boxes of cards and my tool caddy. The bottom shelf has my sewing machine, sewing basket, some unfinished dollies (woops!), wheel storage, some paper trays (filled with envelopes) and a box of ribbons.

My darling Daddy came over and installed these magnetic rails and baskets from Ikea on the inside of the cupboard doors. The magnetic rails hold magnetic tins with bits and pieces (flowers, hat pins etc) and my nestabilities. The baskets hold my button collection and a few punches. I'm saving up to buy four more magnetic strips for the bottom of the doors. ;-D

I store all my plain papers in our office (which is just the next room) in these fantastic baskets I got on sale from a closing down store. It really helps to see what i have instead of rummaging through the cupboard.

The top shelf holds all of my wooden stamps. I had so many I made up a little system. I colour coded the sets by things like sentiment, Christmas, baby, kids etc. by putting stickers on them and then sticking up a list (on the right) showing what the colours mean. I know its very nerdy but its a little cupboard, and it makes life easier when I am running a class and I have to go grab a particular set. ;-D

Vintage Butterflies

Two posts in one day! Very unlike me. I made this card for my card class tonight. Boy this was a hard card to photograph....it either came out too yellow or too pink or didn't show the sparkles! Not 100% happy with this photograph but Ive taken about 20 and I give up! If I was making this for myself I would have stitched the card with my sewing machine, but I had to stop myself as it would be too hard to run a class with a sewing machine. ;-D

Im doing a happy dance aound my loungeroom today! I just got news that I was accepted on another design team! :-)

Its a new company called Annabell stamps. Ive had a sneak peak at the images and they are fantastic. I cant wait for my goodies box to arrive so I can have a play and show you. Isn't this the cutest image! This is Mrs S from Sassy Studio Designs Back To School range. I had such fun working with this image. I used GIMP (free software) to colour the blackboard black, printed it out and coloured the rest with my copics, and then used a white gel pen to write on the blackboard.

I stamped the large apple using SU Markers and covered both apples in Crystal Effects. Its a bit hard to see but her glasses are also covered in Cyrstal Effects. I don't have a binder punch so to make this I used my Stampin Up Double rectangle Punch and then cut slits with my scissors.

Meet Henry

This stamp is the latest release from Stamp Insanity. His name is Henry! He is a red rubber stamp and comes with his sister Morgan. :-D

My 5 year old son loved him so much I decided to make him a little book to practise his handwriting. Henry is such a fun image to colour....reminds me of a manga cartoon. The actual stamp is of a boy holding a pen but I cut a bit off and turned it into a pencil.

A card for Grandpa

I made this card for my kids to give to Grandpa. The image is kinda outside of my comfort zone and my colouring on Kraft is no way good enough but I think he will love it anyway. The boat is coloured and cut twice and mounted on dimensionals...kinda hard to see. This was made for The Digi Shack challenge using 3 pieces of designer paper, ribbon and brads...oh woops I just realised I forgot the ribbon and I used eyelets instead of brads! Duh!

I started this little baby card and stamped a big mess on it. Then spent 45 minutes looking at every set I owned working out how to cover it. I finally settled on this printed paper, cut out and mounted on a few dimensionals. Not entirely happy so off to make another. I just cant seem to give up till I make a card I love. ;-D Also trying to work out how to best photograph my cards,....do you prefer the inside or outside shot?

Sassy Back to School

This is a sneak peak of one of the images from the Sassy Studio Designs "Back to School" range being released tomorrow. I used the BACKPACK image and made these with a 'tween' in mind. I don't actuaaaally have a tween girl (mine is only 1 year old) so I'm not sure if I hit the mark or not? Perhaps if any of you have Tweens you could ask them and tell me if there was any eye rolling involved. ;-) The sketch layout is from the Card Positioning Systems blog.

Ive also worked out how to upload larger photos than my usual size. Not sure if I like this yet. What do you think?

Digi Shack release Party

The Digi Shack are also having a blog hop today to celebrate the release of their new 'Holiday Season' range. I was given this cute little present image to play with so I thought I might show you how to make quick and easy Christmas cards in bulk.

The little present is a Digi stamp and the best bit is you can print it out on all of your scrap Christmas paper from last year! I wanted to keep adding layers (and stitching) but I decided not to as most of us would be making quite a few cards, and so I thought I had better keep the design nice and simple.

These would be so easy to mass produce.
Step 1. Print your digital image on scrap paper and cut out. For instructions on how to print onto scrap click here
Step 2. Add a ribbon and bow to your present
Step 3. Cover your card base with coordinating scrap paper
Step 4. Stamp Sentiment and add three colour co-ordinating diamontes
Step 5. Place present on card using dimensionals

Easy Peasy. :-D

Corny Title I know!!!! :-D This cute little fishy is free over at The Digi Shack this week so pop on over and pick him up. I wanted to keep this clean and simple so the bright fish bowl would stand out. I coloured this little fish and cut him out and then covered him with SU Crystal Affects to make him nice and shiny. The fish bowl is from Dustin Pike and I did exactly the same thing. I stuck the little fishy to the bowl and popped the bowl up on some dimensionals.

Papercraft Survivor

My new blogging friend Tiff put me onto the paper craft survivor challenge so I thought I would have a go. Check out Tiffs blog here...... she is one amazingly, talented young lady!

Basically you can only use 3 things other than your cutter, paper and adhesive. So I used my computer/printer, copics and ribbon. Thought i was really clever (even though I wasn't sure if my computer AND printer AND DIGI STAMPS would reeeeally be classed as ONE) but that was until I realised I sewed on my card so its not even close to being 3 things. Oh and I also cut out my images with scissors. LOL. Off to have another go. Boy its hard to use only 3 things!

Birthday Balloons

This balloon is one of the new releases from The Digi Shack. You may have seen me use it on the boys card a few posts ago. To make it look a little more 3D, I printed the digital image twice at slightly different sizes so that extra streamers would seem to flow out from underneath. I coloured them with copics and cut the top one out and mounted it on dimensionals. I also mounted the white card onto the white card base by using more dimensionals. I am a obsessed with white on white at the moment!!! Thanks for looking.

3d Cupcake Tutorial and Free Template!

I made this little cupcake for the Sassy Studio Cupcake Challenge. Sassy are giving this cute cupcake away for free today so pop on over and play along. A winner will be selected and will get 4 of the pretty new sweet treats images from the Sassy release on August 15th!

Step 1. Print your little cupcake onto white card stock. Ensure you print the cupcake at the bottom of the page so that when you fold it and cut it you will have a 3D card.

Step 2. Score your cardstock across the top of the cupcake and fold in half.

Step 3. Cut out your cupcake.

Step 4. Print your cupcake onto coloured card stock. I chose to cut my cupcake up into three pieces - the cupcake icing, the cherry and the cupcake base so I didn't waste any designer paper. I used the free software GIMP. Its so easy.

TIP: I also found a way to use up my scraps of designer paper for this. Firstly print your image onto cheap white copy paper. Next stick your designer paper to this with a little glue snail. Next put the paper back into the paper feeder and reprint.

Step 5. Cut out your printed cupcake top, cupcake base and cherry and paper piece together. Decorate to your liking. :-)

Balloon for a Boy

I made this little clear acetate card for my friend Daniels birthday. I really struggle with male cards. I'm not at all happy with the colours I chose but never mind. I used the Tuesday Morning sketches as my layout but tweaked it a tiny bit...with only two clouds on the right. I paper pieced the balloon and drew my clouds freehand. I added a tiny bit of glitter. Hope its not too much for a boy! ;-D

Moving Mermaid Card Tutorial

I used the 2 sketches for you challenge #31 for this little girls card. This little mermaid is called Princess of the Sea and is being released by Sassy Studio Designs on the 1st August. Its a bit hard to see but the mermaid actually moves on the card.

Its so easy to make a swimming mermaid! You will need:

Dimensionals
Hole Punch
Image of your choice
Small Coin

Step 1: First punch a hole in your paper large enough to fit your dimensionals through but not so big your 10c piece will fall through. You may need to move your punch around and punch several times to make the hole big enough to fit your dimensionals. Don't worry if it looks a bit messy as it will be covered with your image.

Step 2. Colour and cut out your image.

Step 3. Next mount your image on your dimensional. If yours are particularly flat you may like to mount a second or third on top of the first.

Step 4. Insert the dimensionals through the hole in your paper.

Step 5. Attach the 10c piece on the reverse and mount this piece of paper up on some more dimensionals to give the 10c piece room to move. Now your little mermaid should be swimming. :-)

Princess Castle

I made this little castle for my 5 year old niece a little while back and as soon as I saw Princess Penelope from Sassy I knew she would be the perfect finishing touch! Isn't she so pretty! If you would like to see the original details of the castle please click here.

I printed this digi stamp twice, once on whisper white to colour and again on a soft pink piece of Bella rose for the dress. I covered the dress with 2 layers of Kindy Glitz to make it sparkle - boy it took a long time to dry! The dress is actually a soft pink but unfortunately the lights have made it look like its yellow.

Cinderella Carriage Tutorial

I made this little Cinderella Carriage card for the upcoming Fairytale release over at Sassy Studio Designs. Here is the rear of the card...a little pumpkin carriage. :-)

Here is a close up of the princess. I coloured her with copics and added a bit of Kindy Glitz on her necklace and shoes etc.

If you would like to make your own carriage I have scanned my templates below. If you have the circle nestabilities it will be very quick and easy to make. I don't have those so I made my own. They are not perfect but hopefully you will have fun anyway. :-) Open the image and print it as a4. I think the easiest way to use the templates would be to print them and cut them out so you can trace them onto your card stock.

To make this card score and fold a piece of chocolate card stock in half. Trace the large circle pattern onto the card making sure to leave a small flat area at the top it as this will be your card hinge. Trace the second size circle onto your chosen designer paper and stick these to your card base.

I used my oval nestabilities to cut out the door of the carriage and oval scallops to make the scalloped door frame.

To make pretty faux spokes:

1. Cut out a scalloped circle with your scallop punch or nestabilities.

2. Punched a hole in the middle with your punch or cropadile.

3. Cut out every second petal, ensuring you cut in close to the middle but you leave enough of a circular section to enable you to be able to adhere this securely to your wheel.

Attach the 'spokes' to the wheels using a eyelet and glue the wheels to your card. Decorate your little carriage. Repeat the above process in princess colours. ;-)

Chinese Lantern

I made this little lantern for Mondays card but decided it didn't match...then yesterday my lovely friend Lynda popped over with this cute branch stamp in her collection. I thought they went together nicely! Love it when I get to use my scraps like that!

I made the lantern by sketching it on some designer paper, cutting it out and adding string to the back and some glitter to the front. Actually if truth be told...the glitter is to hide the ink I accidentally smudged on it. ;-)

Oriental Princess

This beautiful oriental princess is part of the new fairytale range being released by Sassy Studio Designs on the 1st August. Do you like her? I had such fun colouring her. I was inspired by the cherry blossoms in springtime in Japan.

To make this card I printed her twice, once on white paper to colour and again on the new SU Bella rose Designer Paper to make her dress. I freehand sewed the lines and added the little pearls in different sizes. I then stamped my sentiment and mounted this on some more Bella rose paper and then layered onto my white card. I cut out my oriental princess and popped her up on some dimensionals.

Mermaid

This little mermaid cutie is one of the new releases coming out from Sassy Studio Designs on the 1st August.

To make this shell card, I folded my card stock in half and cut the shell out making sure to leave the top intact. I then ran it through the cuttlebug bubbles folder.

Ive had a few people ask how to paper piece with digital images so thought I would make a quick tutorial.

Step 1. Print mermaid on white paper.

Step 2. Colour her with copics.

Step 3. Print Tail on Blue Paper, cut out and add some shading with copics

Step 4. run tail through cuttlebug bubbles folder

Step 5. Cover tail in Kindy Glitz or other glitter

Little Alien

I made this little alien card for the challenge over at the digi shack. The challenge is to use 3 different printed papers. ;-) Dont forget this little alien is free for this week only so pop on over and get him here.

I only recently started working with Digi stamps and I have to tell you I LOVE them. Not that they will replace my regular stamps because I would never give them up and digis really only suit line art images! But there are so many things you can do with Digis....I love the fact that you can resize your digis..........I love that you can flip them for a reverse look. You can colour them........... or you can print them on designer paper and paper piece them. You can even print them out in A4 size for your kids to use as colouring pages. My 5 year old son loves this! Just insert them into word and resize and flip. You can also use MS Paint to flip the images.

I printed my two little alients, flipping one and cut them out. I then used my swiss dots folder on my black paper for a space effect, hand cut the star from silver paper, and then covered this in kinder glitter for a shine effect. I popped the aliens and the star up on dimensionals for some depth. Thanks for visiting.

Free Chandelier Digi Stamp

I think I got a bit inspired making my own Digi stamp because I made another! I made this Chandelier Digi Stamp! A while ago I painted this chandelier on a large canvas for our dining room..... and then today I was thinking... and one thing led to another and here it is as a stamp! I dont have Photoshop but my new cyber friend Mel put me onto some fantastic free software GIMP that works just as well. Thanks Mel! ;-D

I am happy to share this chandelier if anyone wants it. Just email me and I will send you the file.

I printed the chandelier and sentiment onto SU Designer paper Bella rose, distressed the edges and then sewed it to another piece of Bella rose. Added a ribbon, a split pin and a couple of diamontes. It reminds me of a vampire palace! ;-)

I am totally in love with this little Alien Digi Stamp! And the best bit is he is FREE over at The Digi Shack starting Monday (USA time). Its for one week only... so save him onto your computer and you can have him FOREVER. ;-)

I used my hexagon nestabilities to cut a window out of the card and then I used two more sizes to make a little pop up frame on the front.

I love this little man so much I'm off to make another!

I made this silly little card for the 'Go Green' Challenge at Moxie Fab World. I don't mean to imply the challenge is silly. I think the challenge is fantastic and there are so many gorgeous entries....but I had a card in mind that was a little more sophisticated and instead this turned out like a kindergarten project! The entire card is made from items from my recycle bin. The blue paper is recycled from the back of an old text book. The hills are made from an old tissue box, the tree is cut from the reverse of the tissue box, the buttons are recycled from old clothes, and the words are cut from different boxes and mounted on dimensionals. Just a bit of daily sillyness! ;-)

Edited to add: I hated this card so much I pulled it apart and had another go!!! That must be the ultimate in recycling! ;-) I think I must be obsessive compulsive!!!

This is my very first card made for The Digi Shack. I made this for their challenge in which you have to design something with a cloud. ;-) Why don't you play along?

I free hand cut the hills and cloud and then distressed them using my SU Distressing Tool. I printed the house three times, once on the blue card, a second time in grey and a third time in white. I then cut the pieces out and paper pieced them back together, and added a bit of turquoise copic to the windows and door. A little bit of stitching and its finished. This is the first time I have stitched in black and I think I will be doing it more. ;-)

Ever need a quick card? Today was one of those days for me so I used a quick digi image from Sassy and printed and cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals. I quickly stitched a border around the edge (to make it easier pierce the holes with your toolkit first) and then added my ribbon, sentiment and a few buttons. Done. Phew!

Sassy Studio Challenge Card

I made this card for Sassy Studio Designs first challenge. There are some fantastic prizes and Lindsay is giving away a FREE Digi Stamp so you can participate! You can find the instructions and the free dress here. In Lindsay's own words.... 'Be sure to make it Sassy and use some bling!'.

Ive had a few questions about how to work with digi stamps and I thought I would show you a little tutorial on how to use your digi stamps with your regular stamps. One of the things i love about digi stamps is the fact that you can print them at any size. You don't need any fancy or expensive software, in fact I just insert my images into Word and resize them by dragging and stretching them. I wasn't sure what size I wanted for my card so I printed three different sizes. There is no waste as I will put the unused ones aside for next time. ;-)

Next I used Papertrey Ink Damask Designs to stamp a pretty pattern on the dress. Now I know it doesn't look appealing at this stage...

Next I cut the dress out and decorated it with some diamantes on the waistband and a little sparkle (well this is a challenge with Bling!!!!).

And then I put my card together! Simple. Thanks for looking.

Here is my 3rd sneak peak of the Hula Honey Digital image from Sassy Studio Designs. She is being released on the 15th July. This time I went for an aged postcard look and distressed the edges of the card and stained the card using a wet tea bag. I coloured the hula honey in copics but tried to choose washed out colours. I found the stamp image and the Airmail Image on the net and printed them out. :-)

This Hawaiian cutie is the latest from Sassy Studio Designs and she is being released on the 15th July. I wanted to keep the card clean and simple and let the image shine so I decided to make a focal point of her skirt and make it with real raffia.

I cut a slit in the skirt and threaded through the raffia and secured it on the back with good old fashioned sticky tape. ;-) I coloured the image with my copics, cut her out and mounted her with dimensionals to add a bit more depth to the card.

Antique Cassie

Here is my second card using the Sassy Cassie image. You know when you have an design in your head and everything works out perfectly? Well this wasn't one of those times. ;-) Not sure how much I like this card...I was aiming for an antique look but not sure that I achieved it. The red flower and shoes, hat etc actually match the red papers much better in real life but I just couldn't get a photograph to show it.

My lovely friend's Grandma just died so I made her this little card. I wanted to keep it clean and simple. The butterflies aren't necessarily where I wanted them but my little daughter smudged my ink and I had to cover it up...but I think they add a nice balance now that I look at it. What do you think?

Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #11

I had an idea rattling around in my head to try and colour this retro stamp to look soft and romantic so when I saw the colours from this weeks Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #11 I thought they would be perfect. I also used the Card Positioning Systems Sketch #123. Love that blog!

I had this green and pink ribbon for a while and I was happy to finally use it. ;-) The pink paper and pink diamontes are from Walmart in the US.

I only own two pink copics and they are not even in the same colour number so my colouring needs to be improved.

Disco Diva Free Fonts

This is for the Clean and Simple Challenge #21 over at Split Coast Stampers. The card needed to be a 'clean and simple' design and have some sparkle in it. I found some free 70s fonts on the net and typed up my sentiment. The frame is hand drawn. The stamp is 'Disco Diva' by Sassy Studio Designs. All the papers are scraps I had lying around. Love my scraps! ;-)

I couldn't decide between sparkly paper or sparkly diamontes so I used both. Is it too much? :-)

Disco Diva at the Ball

I made this 'Disco Ball' by tracing around a small bucket (but you could use anything round) onto some Silver Card Stock and then cutting it apart and paper piecing it back onto a slightly larger card shaped like a black ball. It wasn't glittery enough for my liking so I covered it in glitter. The cute ' Disco Diva' is a digi stamp from Sassy Studio Designs and I printed her twice, once on white paper to colour with copics, and again on Cosmo Cricket paper for her funky outfit. I took my inspiration from the CPS Sketch #122. I know, I know, mine is round and theirs is rectangle....but the sketch inspiration was to use a single background with only one small image...can you see now? Heehee.

Sock Hop Sweetie

I think I am on a retro bender this week! Is this the cutest image! This is Sock Hop Sweetie from Sassy Studio Designs. She seems to go so well with these Cosmo Cricket Early Bird papers doesn't she! She is a digi stamp so it was really easy to print her twice - once on plain white to colour with copics, and a second time on Cosmo paper to cut out her dress. I hand cut the bottom of the card to match the leaf design and corner rounded all the corners with my punch.

I wanted to make some nice simple cards and thought these Cosmo Cricket papers seemed kinda retro. Here is what I came up with! These were such a quick cards. 10 minutes tops! Sometimes that's nice after spending 2 hours on a card. Know what I mean? ;-)

The next card is for a friend who has recently found out she is pregnant. We are not sure if it is a boy or girl so I went with nice safe yellow and green. ;-)

Again a little card using the gorgeous Cosmo Cricket papers. This time I used the Dutch girl range. I think I purchased about $60 worth of Cosmo Cricktet Papers so you will be seeing a lot of them. I water coloured the image of Anya and had loads of fun distressing this little card. The papers are nice and thick and so don't damage when you are distressing them. ;-)

Another Cosmocricket card. I am really loving their papers at the moment! I wanted to make it look like the little robot was in the middle of a factory so I used an old coke can and cut it out with my nestabilities and added lots of silver brads on my papers and 'cogs'. I used the 2 Sketches 4 you # 29 again. I found this little cutie on the Internet here...and the best bit is... he is FREE! I water coloured him and then to continue the 'cartoon' look I went over him again with my SU Fineline Pen. Thanks for visiting.

Everafter Flower Tutorial

I wanted to participate in the 2Sketches for you challenge and use my Cosmo Cricket Everafter papers. I also thought I would show you how to make your own 3D flower using any flower punch. It is really very easy.

You will Need:

Several scraps of Designer Paper in co-ordinating Colours

5 Petal Flower Punch or any flower punch

Piercing Tool and Matt

Thread

Large Needle

Button

Step 1.

Punch out 3 or four flowers using your chosen punch

Step 2.

Crumple the flowers up into little balls of paper.

Step 3.

Flatten the flowers back out but don't make them too flat as you want to leave a bit of dimension.

Step 4. Arrange the flowers on top of each other making sure you place the petals at different angles, place your button on the top and use your paper piercer to pierce four holes through the layers. Step 5. Thread your cotton onto a large needle and sew the layers together with your button. Tie a knot at the back. I used the extra string on the back of the flower to tie it to my bow but you could also attach the flower using any strong glue such as Red Tape or a Glue Dot.

I then sanded the edges of my paper, punching the bottom section with my SU boarder punch, layering onto some certainly celery card stock and finished it off with a bit of uneven sewing. I usually have someone specific in mind when I make a card as I find I make better cards if I have someone in mind, however this time I didn't so I used a very simple 'Just Because' sentiment.

A Cosmic Ride

I made this little birthday card for my sons friend Max. I used the Cosmo Cricket Lil Man Papers, sanded the edges, mounted them on SU Riding Hood Red, and then stitched them with my sewing machine. I then added some buttons from my stash, and used my copics to colour a little plane from Sweet and Sassy Designs. I wanted to make it look like the aeroplane was pulling a little sign for Max so I stamped the sentiment, gave it a wash with a tea bag to make it look aged like the paper, and then tied it on with a piece of string so it can hang and swing about. I used Sketch 121 from Card Positioning Systems for my layout.

I made this card for my application for a recent design team call. Not sure how I will go but I had fun making it anyway. ;-) I only had one blue copic so had to improvise a bit to make it look like she was wearing denim. Since the stamp featured a cell phone I made this card with a teenage girl in mind.... I thought the "wordy" paper matched the chatty image quite well. ;-)

Polyshrink Button Tutorial

I decided to make my own little buttons using Polyshrink and Papertrey Inks Guidelines Two Stamp Set. I thought you might like this little tutorial so you can make your own buttons.

What you will need:
1. One sheet of clear or white Polyshrink
2. Stazon Ink Pad
3. Papertrey Ink's Guidelines Two Set or other circular Stamp of your choice
4. 1 inch Circle Punch

Step 1. Using Stazon stamp your design on your Polyshrink. You will need a steady hand for this as the Stazon has a tendency to 'slide' across the Polyshrink.
Step 2. Next turn your punch upside down, line up with your stamped image, and punch out a circle.

Step 3. You will now be left with a stamped image which you will need to bake in a pre-heated oven according to the directions on your Polyshrink packet. They will curl and look a bit messy but if you wait a bit longer they should flatten out and shrink on their own.

TIP: Do not over bake or you will get little ovals rather than little circles. ;-)

I chose to cover little trees with my Polyshrink buttons but you can use them in any way you like.

Here are the finished cards using my Polyshrink buttons. I made little backgrounds for my cards using Damask Designs set as I thought it looked like a little forest. Yes I have a good imagination! ;-) Thanks for looking.

A Strange Card

I just received my new Anya stamps and I must say I love them. I don't have a ton of copics but still had lots of fun colouring. I thought the background paper looked like beautiful wallpaper and I couldn't bear to cover it up with ribbons or even a sentiment. I just wanted Anya to stand out so I cut her out and mounted her on some dimensionals! I added the three buttons in order to provide some balance to the card.

I was inspired by the cream and beige bedroom in my last post and made this card for my mother in law's birthday. Its a bit formal for my liking but I made it with her style in mind. I stamped Damask Designs on Sahara Sand paper using White Craft Ink. Mounted on chocolate paper and used my Fiskars Punch to punch the lace border. I think this card needs one of those beautiful hat pins I have seen around. I think I might go get some today! :-)
